Sod & Turf Grass Installations

Many common turf grasses are used and enjoyed here in South Eastern North Carolina.

Among the most popular of these are Centipede, St. Augustine, Bermuda, Zoysia. These grasses go dormant in the colder winter and thrive in the warmer summer months.  All look nice when properly cared for and maintained.

Absolute Land Maintenance has established accounts with many of the regional turf farms in south eastern North Carolina. This allows us to provide high quality turf grasses as needed, by large and small project alike at any time of year. Below are some photos of the different types of turf grasses we can install for you in your yard or at your commercial property. We recommend that you use at least one cubic yard of topsoil per pallet of new sod, especially if redoing an existing lawn. This gives the new turf a rich layer of soil with good pH levels to get the transplanting & new growth process started right. A pallet of sod will cover about 450-500 sq ft of area and about 20 pallets can go onto a single 18 wheeler.

When it's time pre-emergants & fertilizers your sod we recommend companies that focus only on chemical treatments.

They will be sure to fertilize to your specific sods needs.

More About Turf Grass Types

Centipede is a tough, low-growing, low-maintenance grass. It grows best in the acidic soil of the lower Southeast. Centipede has a rougher texture than most turf grasses, but with proper care it has excellent weed and pest resistance. Centipede is for low traffic areas should be in full or partial sun and cut a 11/2" - 2".

Bermuda's creeping nature and aggressive growth habit gives it excellent weed resistance. That same trait can be a problem when Bermuda get into flower beds and other unwanted areas. Bermuda is good for high traffic areas and is drought-tolerant. Cut height should be 11/2" - 2".

Zoysia is for high traffic areas should be in full or partial sun and cut at 1"- 2".
